OrphanEducation.org in Uganda has many opportunities for mission groups, families, couples or singles who are interested in serving AIDS orphans and widows in the heart of Africa.

There are opportunities in all aspects of our operations. Anyone with a heart to reach out and serve orphans and widows in Africa will find exciting projects to bring love to these deserving people.

Construction workers, painters, administrators, managers, teachers -- your time and skills will be put to great use! Some specific areas of need are listed below but OrphanEducation.org is open to whatever your interest as you desire to support the children of East Africa.

Immediate Opening for Grant Writer/Fundraiser: The grant writer will work with the Executive Director to secure foundation, corporate and government funding. Specifically, this individual will:
  • Write and edit proposals, reports, contracts and other correspondence for submission to foundation, corporate, and government funders.
  • Research internal and outside sources for statistics and other information to support proposals.
  • Assist in preparing budgets.
  • Interact with executive level and program staff, as well as with foundation and corporate staff and government grant representatives.
  • Assist in researching private and government funding opportunities.
  • Participate in discussions with funders in preparation for proposal drafting.
Minimum requirements include: 2 Months commitment, experience in grant writing, ability to gather, coordinate and analyze information accurately, manage multiple deadlines/tasks, and work with minimal supervision. The person also should be a flexible team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and computer skills. Experience with online research resources will be extremely helpful.

Our Children's Village

The recent partnership with Assist International has provided funding and opportunities to build a village to accommodate children who have lost their parents to AIDS and have not been placed with foster families. Groups or individuals with engineering, plumbing, construction, carpentry, or electrical skills are needed.

Our Integrated School

As with any school, volunteer opportunities abound. Those interested in tutoring of just enjoying and playing with the children would be welcome. Qualified teachers are particularly needed to work with local teachers. Basic school supplies are always needed and are appreciated.

Administration

Administrative areas such as the Child Welfare Department who is responsible for home visits and school evaluation visits. The HIV/AIDS Department is responsible for processing HIV screenings and counseling.
BR> Rural Health Initiative

The Mobile Clinic provides medical access to rural villages. OrphanEducation.org counsels, conducts HIV screenings and treats people with HIV/AIDS. Services are provided to people with general ailments. Doctors, nurses, and dentists are always needed. However, opportunities to serve beside trained AOET staff are available to those without medical training.

Empowerment Training

OrphanEducation.org teaches widows, orphans, and the general public vocational skills such as crocheting, knitting, tailoring and computers. Volunteers are always needed to help teach these trades.
