Orphan Education was established by a Ugandan native, Sam Tushabe. Sam lost his parents to AIDS when he was 5 years old. His mother's dying wish was for Sam to complete his education, and so he earned money by collecting wood and carrying water for others.
After putting himself through school, he became overwhelmed with the increasing plight of children in East Africa. He determined to do whatever he could to give these orphaned children hope and a better life. He began supporting one single orphaned child on his limited income. Then, he was able to support two children. Two became four. Four became ten.
Before long, Sam was caring for more than 40 children and reached out for assistance from friends, family, coworkers, churches, and businesses. He began a registered non-profit organization in Uganda and was able to receive funds to make a longer-lasting impact.
Today, Orphan Education supports over 2,500 orphans in East Africa. Sam is absolutely determined to make a difference in the lives of children who struggle to survive and stay in school under such circumstances. He now has a Bachelors of Development Studies Degree from Kampala International University, and is earning his Masters Degree while working as Founder and Director of this organization.
He has the support of hundreds of people, groups, and corporations around the world (including his "tech team" volunteers in the USA). We urge you to visit Sam and his children in Uganda -- because if you do, your life will never be the same. If you cannot visit, we urge you to give money to support this incredibly noble cause.
